Ethan & Oliver’s Thanksgiving Mission

A Thanksgiving Mission Like No Other!
Join Ethan & Oliver as their family launches Operation Gratitude—a holiday adventure filled with laughter, lessons, and lots of pumpkin pie! From bubbling sourdough and backyard gardens to farm stand visits, cozy baking days, and a bustling Thanksgiving table at Grandma’s house, the boys discover that blessings come in all shapes and sizes.
Along the way, readers will enjoy:
–Silly sibling antics that keep kids laughing
–Family traditions and faith-filled reflections
–Notebook prompts to spark gratitude at home
–A reminder to pray for those serving far from their families
Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite times of year. Not just for the pie (though Oliver would vote for that every time), but because of the traditions that bring families together, and of course Alabama football!
In our house, Thanksgiving looks like…
- Baking sourdough rolls and sneaking “practice tastes”
- Family cornhole tournaments in the backyard (the prize? First pick of dessert!)
- Ending the night with stories, laughter, and prayers
Some years, though, Thanksgiving has looked very different.
As a Navy family, we’ve celebrated holidays underway — giving thanks at sea with shipmates, missing family at home, but holding onto gratitude in new ways. That experience is one of the reasons we created Operation Gratitude in Ethan & Oliver’s Thanksgiving Mission. We want kids to see that blessings can be found in every season — big ones, little ones, and even silly ones.
Blessing Bingo — Play Along at Home!
Ethan carefully logged 37 blessings. Oliver raced his way to B-100 (with plenty of pie along the way).
We created Blessing Bingo to make gratitude simple and fun. To start, print the cards. Then, pick your play style. For a custom round, write the blessings your family notices with Ethan and Oliver throughout the week. Alternatively, use their blessings from the story and see if your crew can match. Meanwhile, little ones can draw or say a blessing, while older kids can read a square. Additionally, teams work great for big tables. Afterward, pause and share one gift you noticed today. Above all, remember the goal: have fun and take notice of the blessings all around us. Finally, enjoy this Thanksgiving blessing bingo printable as a sweet way to practice thanks together.
